Product Design & Testing / Crowd source the new Quick Key Scanner
« on: November 02, 2014, 03:55:25 PM »
As you all know we are always trying to improve Quick Key, sometimes we do a better job than others, but with your help we will continue to grow and make Quick Key better.

We are requesting members of this community to take pictures of any tickets that you are having trouble scanning and post them in reply to this thread. This will allow our developers to catch all the edge cases and make sure that all future releases of Quick Key are tailored to your specific needs as well as the needs of the general public.

So please post away, and as often as possible!

With deep gratitude for your continued support,

The Quick Key Team

Product Design & Testing / Re: Student Results Screen
« on: October 22, 2014, 08:01:38 AM »
I would rather see the student's correct/out of possible instead of the average score. I do like the graph and the idea of having more right there on one screen at a quick glance.  It was quit tedious to go into each student to get the correct answers I also like to see if they have any blank questions in case they made an error. Especially with an exam!
If the score under the graph was each students correct/possible points and percent that would be awesome!

Also a fan of this suggestion. I don't have an LMS that I can import/export results from so this would make entering marks into the computer very fast indeed. QuickTM even. ;D

Help and Assistance / Re: Can I used my document camera to scan?

Hey there,

Currently the only devices that Quick Key is compatible with are iOS devices. That being said the use of a document camera is an interesting suggestion!

Help and Assistance / Re: Marking right and wrong answers on QuickTicket
« on: September 07, 2014, 07:45:55 AM »
I wonder if you could set up something like Remind does.   They create a number for texting but parents and students cannot reply to that number.  It's strictly for sending out messages.  Personally I'd like to confirm the results before an email or text is sent out.

I'm with Keith on this one, I would want to have that manually controlled so I know the tickets scanned correctly and my key is correct. Sometimes I have accidentally key the wrong answer as correct. Also many schools nowadays have a gradebook that parents and students can access already. I'd sooner enter the data from QK into my grade software by hand and have them check all their marks.

That's just me.

Help and Assistance / Re: Scanning 'blank answers'

Lighting and the darkness and fullness of the circle can cause it to read blank. I did some tests by partially filling in circles and the fuller, the better result.

Suggestions / Re: app for mac

Hey there,

Welcome to the forum, are you asking for an Apple App that you could access data on or an app that you could use the built in camera to scan tickets by holding them up?

Just wanted to clarify your idea.

Cheers,

Thomas

Not sure what you mean by multiple versions, can you clarify or provide an example?

Suggestions / Re: Longer Tests (30+ questions)
« on: June 16, 2014, 09:53:51 AM »
I'd also like to have the option of choosing the specific number of questions. For example, I am required to use a 12 question and a 16 question quiz to pre-assess all my students.

Hey there,

I assume you mean on the printed ticket, the app itself can set a custom question length.

Thanks,

Suggestions / Re: If a Student Makes a Mistake...
« on: May 12, 2014, 08:12:30 AM »
Let me know if I understand this right:
Student makes a correction that is either in pen/crossed out or not entirely erased and the scanner picks up multiple responses on the line.
You would like some method to address this mistake/correction by perhaps a pop-up box for the question that the scanner detects two responses for?

Quote
Two Responses Detected for Question 12:
Please select the response desired:
A B C D E

Just want to make sure I'm understanding the situation as you explain it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think this is heading in the right direction.

Collaborate / Crazy Uses for Quick Key?
« on: May 01, 2014, 10:02:56 AM »
Hey all,

I just wanted to see if anyone had any strange uses or applications that they have thought on how to use Quick Key beyond the regular assessment grading.

I've already heard one story about using it to generate a poll of four choices (key the correct answer as E) and see the % of students who chose which answer.

Does anyone else have any stories about using Quick Key for something other than a Quiz/Test scenario?

Does anyone have thoughts on texting results to students and parents?

Best,

Walter

Pretty sure my students would have mixed feelings about me texting them grades. Option might be nice but I don't think I'd use it.
